I can't believe my trip to Washington has arrived so soon. I am carpooling with two other classmates:Monique and Avery. We are staying in an Airbnb together and Julia is meeting us there. We are all majoring in Photojournalism at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York. We are traveling to Washington to meet the rest of my classmates to meet with major publications and some of the people who help make the publication exist: photographers, videographers, photo editors, freelancers. This trip is in part of a course I am taking called DC Photojournalism Trip which William Snyder is teaching at RIT where we go on this trip to build a stronger network within the photojournalism community and get a better understanding of what these major publications are looking for along with what it really takes to be in this type of career.

I am looking forward to what the week has in store. I got my maps and TripTik from AAA and my luggage is set to go.

Next thing I know I was in the car on my way to Washington.

On the way into Washington, I discovered an amazing place near Harrisburg where I fell in love with this bridge that crosses over the river and gives access to the trains to cross. I have never witnessed anything like it. The bridge was what seemed to be miles long and had too many arches to count from a distance. As we navigated our way along there were four bridges just as long as the first which were extremely close together and had similar amount of arches. I have now made this place an area I will never forget and plan to be traveling back to.

Today, I finally arrived in Hillcrest Heights, just over the Potomac River outside of Washington. The drive to Washington took about eight hours and the traffic got extremely backed up when we got into Washington.

After arriving at the Airbnb, I got my stuff together for Monday and now I am going to get some rest before a long exciting week.

Today is the last day that my sister is visiting from Arizona. Time is precious. Don't ever take it for granted.
